New Fines for Missing Car Insurance (PZP) in Slovakia: Key Facts You Need to Know
New strict control measures for mandatory car insurance (PZP) are coming into force in Slovakia. According to authorities, hundreds of thousands of vehicles are driving on the country's roads without a valid policy, creating serious risks for all road users.
What Changes for Drivers:
Vehicle Deregistration: Vehicles without PZP for more than two years will be automatically deregistered by the Ministry of Interior.
Automated Fines: Databases of the Ministry of Interior and insurance companies are being integrated. Lacking insurance for more than 30 days puts the owner at risk of an automatic fine ranging from €120 to €900, which can be issued every 150 days.
Problems with Technical Inspections and Driving Licenses: Passing STK and EK is impossible without a valid policy, and driving an unregistered vehicle carries a penalty of driver's license suspension for up to 3 years.
